Hello! My name is
Chelsea; I just finished my first year as an undergraduate at Central Michigan
University. In two short days, I will be
leaving the country for the first time on a faculty-led study abroad trip. I, along with nine other girls and two
faculty members, will be studying the history of biology and medicine in Great
Britain and Wales! Our trip will take us
all over the United Kingdom, from urban London, Cambridge, and Shrewsbury in
England to the remote Capel Curing in Wales, just to name a few. For the first couple of weeks, we will be
studying Charles Darwin’s life and his Theory of Natural Selection, even
replicating a few of his experiments in the same locations that he performed
them! For the last week or so, we will
be focused more on the history of medicine in Great Britain; this will entail
visiting numerous museums, such as the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, the
Hunterian Museum, and the Royal Observatory.
I am an honors student studying piano performance, but I chose this
program because I want to expand my sphere of learning. I am very often focused on music and piano,
but I have a passion for learning in all fields! I believe that taking the time to study
subjects outside of one’s primary sphere is not only enriching and
well-rounding, but also makes one a sharpened and improved global citizen. I would love for you to follow me on my
journey around the United Kingdom!
